Illustration Friday: Routine

This is a shot from my routine at the Dunes in Las Vegas, circa 1959 (it ran from about 1958 to 1964. 2 shows a night!). I say my routine, but Steve and Jan were really the glue holding the act together. “That hoop’s not going to hold itself up!” they’d always say, and of course they were right.

I saw this pencil drawing sitting around and colored it today, but when I first drew it I had been watching lots of ThunderCats and The Hobbit. Basically it seems to be a mix of Monkian... and anybody in The Hobbit.
